Japanese Fungi on Plants No.27 before next top

Colletotrichum orbiculare (Berk. & Mont.) Arx [= C. lagenarium (Pass.) Ell. & Halst.]
Classification: Deuteromycotina, Coelomycetes

 Distributed widely in Japan. Causes anthracnose of Cucurbitaceae plants as watermelon, cucumber, wax gourd and etc. Produces acervuli on the leaves and disperses by scattering conidia inside. Teleomorph has been reported as Glomerella cingulata var. orbicularis, but not described formally.

Morphology:
 Teleomorph: Unknown
 Anamorph: Acervuli with setae, producing conidia inside. Sclerotia abundant. Conidia hyaline to pale yellow, cylindrical to ellipsoid, single cell, obtuse at the apices, 14-15 x 4.5-6 um. Appressoria long clavate or slightly irregular, 9-10 x 5-6 um in size.
