Economic Evaluation Group

Utilization of new agricultural technology is indispensable to improve agricultural productivity. Tohoku Agricultural Research Center is pursuing research for the development of new agricultural technologies in various fields associated with breeding for new cultivars, cultivation, soil fertilizer, and agricultural machinery. However, the new technologies do not improve agricultural productivity unless the technology is applied properly for the actual agricultural activities. The improvement of agricultural productivity falls on the hands of agricultural producers who make use of the new technologies. Therefore, not only important it is to improve the yield by introducing new technology, but also it is necessary to elucidate the advantages to be obtained concretely from the resulting changes in expenses and profits. This not only helps agricultural producers by providing the information on the merit of specific management, but also helps the technology researchers to think about the issues to improve and the direction to develop the technology.

From this point of view, we evaluate the management of new agricultural technologies developed in various fields such as cultivars, livestock, fruit trees in cooperation with technical researchers. In addition, as a part of the mid-term research plan, we evaluate the technology such as direct seeding in the rice paddy fields, grain corn production for forage, utilization of apple feather seedlings, and dwarfing dense planting cultivation.
