Tohoku Agricultural Research Center, NARO

Farm Management Group

The Farm Management Group conducts research for efficient farm management in conjunction with NARO's efforts of strengthening agriculture through the development of necessary technologies.

It is important to evaluate how the new technologies will benefit the farmers. Our research enables us to judge whether the technology development is based on social needs, and to elucidate how much it will contribute to society. In the Tohoku region, our experimental area, we analyze the trends of technological developments required in the future, status of people involved in production and marketing of agricultural products, and conditions to improve the societies associated with the agriculture and food industry.

In particular, we develop a supporting system for farmers to choose the most suitable direct-seeding technique in their rice paddies depending on their business condition and/or their preference (upper right in the picture below; under development), and we also perform management evaluation for the large-scale rice paddies with crop-rotation systems introducing vegetables.
