2. Qualifications for application

  • Applicants must possess, or be scheduled to obtain, a doctoral degree prior to the date of employment.
  • Applicants should possess the knowledge, ability, and/or techniques necessary for employment as a member of the research scientist group responsible for the research theme of the intended post.
  • Applicants may be of any nationality, but communicative competence in either Japanese or English is necessary. In addition, applicants must acquire the status of residence for working at NARO prior to the date of employment.
  • In cases where applicants' publications and qualifications are evaluated as being equivalent, NARO will give precedence to the employment of women and foreign nationals for these posts.

* Except for the person who falls under any of the following

  • an adult ward or a person under curatorship
  • a person punished by imprisonment without compulsory labor or to a more severe penalty and the execution of said penalty has not yet been completed or has not yet expired

3. Compensation

Salary

  • Calculated in accordance with the regulation of NARO.
    [Scheduled Salary]: \269,400 or more
  • Bonus payment will be twice a year in accordance with the regulation of NARO.
  • Area allowance, Transport allowance, overtime compensation, dependency allowance, house allowance and others will be given in accordance with the regulation of NARO.
    * There is possibility that income will change due to a revision of regulation.

Employment Status

  • Work Days: From Mondays to Fridays
  • Work Hours: Discretionary labor system for professional work in principle
    * Flex time system is also available
  • Holidays: Every Saturday and Sunday, National holiday, 12/29 to 1/3
  • Paid Leave: Annual paid leave, Summer holidays, Sick leave, Marriage leave, Maternity leave and many other leave are offered based on the regulation of NARO.
  • Social Insurance:
    The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Mutual Aid Associations,
    Employment insurance, Workers' compensation insurance, etc.

6. Deadline

The documents must arrive by 13:00 on Wednesday, November 8th(P), 2017 (Japan standard time).

7. Screening

  • The selection committee of NARO will perform its initial evaluation based on the documents in the early to middle November and will notify applicants of the result by November 30th, 2017.
  • The second evaluation (oral interview) will be carried out in Tsukuba City on one day between the early to middle December.
