Distributed northern form Kyushu, the southern Distr. Causes
pepper spot and severe defoliation in alfalfa. Frequently isolated from other Medicago
plants. Produces perithecia on diseased leaves and rotten stem and disperses by scattering
ascospores. Anamorph unknown. The scientific name may be a synonym of L. trifolii (Rostr.) Petr.
