Magnapothe grisea (Hebert) Barr [Pyricularia grisea (Cooke) Sacc.]
 Classification: Ascomycota, Locuoascomycetes, Dothideales, Hysteriaceae

 Distributed widely in Japan. Causes blast of rice and the damage is very severe. Often isolated from other gramineous crops and weeds. Disperses by scattering conidia. Teleomorph rarely observed in nature.

Morphology:
 Teleomorph: Produced by paired culture on artificial media. Perithecia dark brown to black with cylindrical ostiolar neck, producing cylindrical to subclavate asci inside. Ascospores hyaline, fusiform, slightly curved, 17-21 x 5-7 um with 2-3 septa.
 Anamorph: On pale brown conidiophores, producing conidia hyaline to pale olive brown, obpyriform, hilum protrudent, 17-28 x 6-9 um with 1-3 septa.
