Glomerella acutata J.C.Guerber & J.C.Correll [=Colletotrichum acutatum Simmonds ex Simmonds]
 Classification: Ascomycota, Pyrenomycetes, Phyllachorales, Phyllachoraceae

 Distributed widely in Japan except for Hokkaido, the most northern part of Japan. An omnivorous plant pathogen and causes anthracnose diseases in various flowers, vegetables and fruits more than 50 species. Produces acervuli on the surface of leaves, scattering conidia inside by wind and rain. Teleomorph is observed only in artificial cultures.

Morphology:
 Teleomorph: Produced by paired culture on artificial media. Ascocarp spherical to obpyriform, 125-313 um in width, producing  unitunicate and clavate asci inside. Ascospores hyaline, single celled,  oblong to ellipsoidal, 8.5-25.1 x 3.1-8.1 um, with blunt ends.
 Anamorph: In acervuli, producing conidial mass of orange to pink. Conidia, single cell, hyaline, fusiform, tapered towards the both ends, 8.5-16.5 x 2.5-4 um in size. Apressorium brown, obovate to clavate, often smooth in edge, 8.5-10 x 4.5-6 um in size.
