[Moonshot] The Moonshot International Symposium "Diverse plant genetic resources for future sustainable agriculture" (July 16, 2022)

June 10, 2022 (Friday)

A symposium will be held on the development of Cyber-Physical Systems for crop breeding (CPS), which has been conducted as a project under the Moonshot R&D Program, Goal 5: sustainable food supply. The event will take place on Saturday, July 16, 2022 (JST) in a hybrid format (physically in Tokyo and on-line), for which prior registration is required.

Aiming at achieving zero food risks, Dr. Toru Fujiwara, Professor of the University of Tokyo, and the members of his project (from several universities and research institutes) are developing a new crop design system by testing target plants both in virtual and real environment, and by fully benefiting from biological functions of wild plants.

In the symposium, three invited speakers from overseas and three project researchers will provide presentations on the diversity and resilience of plant genetic resources, and they will discuss the potential benefits of those genetic resources for sustainable agriculture in the future.
