NARO 4th International Symposium on Food and Health
"Food and Agriculture Innovations for Sustaining the Future: Research Development toward Achieving the SDGs"

Since 2022, the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) has been hosting the annual "International Symposium on Food and Health," with the aim of creating innovations for health through food and sustainable food production. The 4th symposium will focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically addressing three goals (Goals 2, 12, and 13) that are closely related to sustainable food production. In 2016, the Japanese government formulated the concept of Society 5.0, which aims to achieve both economic development and the resolution of social issues by leveraging ICT, including artificial intelligence (AI), data, robotics, and communication networks. NARO is committed to contributing to the achievement of the SDGs by realizing Society 5.0 in the agriculture and food sectors. This symposium will provide an opportunity for NARO and international organizations to exchange information on their initiatives, discuss the necessary future actions from a global perspective, and accelerate the development and practical application of innovative solutions, while also building new partnerships.

第4回 NARO食と健康の国際シンポジウム
-未来を支える食と農のイノベーション: SDGs達成に向けた研究展開-

農研機構では食による健康や持続可能な食料生産のためのイノベーション創出を目指し、2022年から毎年「食と健康の国際シンポジウム」を開催しています。第4回ではSDGsをテーマとし、持続的な食料生産に密接に関係する3つのSDGs目標(目標2, 12, 13)を取り上げます。日本政府は2016年にSociety5.0の概念を提唱しました。このコンセプトは人工知能(AI)を含むICTやデータ、ロボティクス、通信ネットワークを活用することにより、経済的発展と社会的課題の解決を両立するというもので、農研機構では、農業・食品分野におけるSociety5.0の達成により、SDGs目標達成に貢献することを目指しています。
本シンポジウムでは、農研機構や海外機関における取り組みについて情報交換を行うと共に、今後必要とされる取り組みについてグローバルな視点で議論し、新たな連携の構築や研究開発・実用化の加速を図ります。
