Dr. Mari Maeda-Yamamoto, Director of the Division of Food Function Research, Institute of Food Research, NARO (NFRI) participated in the ASEAN Biodiversity Resources on Functional Foods for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) workshop in conjunction with the ASEAN NEXT 2018 organized by Thailand's Ministry of Science and Technology at the Royal Orchid Sheraton in Bangkok, Thailand on March 19-22, 2018. Dr. Maeda-Yamamoto gave a presentation on food labeling system with function claims and functional agricultural products in Japan. The workshop followed by opinion exchange about the current state of functional food development in 10 ASEAN countries.
