The PNAS Cozzarelli Prize 2016 for Biological Sciences was awarded to the paper entitled "Complete in vitro generation of fertile oocytes from mouse primordial germ cells" by Kanako Morohaku, Ren Tanimoto, Keisuke Sasaki, Ryouka Kawahara-Miki, Tomohiro Kono, Katsuhiko Hayashi, Yuji Hirao, and Yayoi Obata. This research was a joint collaboration of Tokyo University of Agriculture, Kyushu University, JST Precursory Research for Embryonic Science and Institute of Livestock and Grassland Science, NARO. The annual award acknowledges papers published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) that reflect scientific excellence and originality in various fields.
