Tsukuba PhD Kids program is sponsored by the Tsukuba Board of Education to allow elementary and junior high school students to visit and experience various research programs in the institute. The Institute for Agro-Environmental Sciences, NARO (NIAES) has become an observation facility of Tsukuba PhD Kids program for the year 2017. The program includes (1) Insect collection classroom (2) Summer Open Day (3) Let's look under the surface -Micro monolith-making. For the program 1 and 3 reservation is necessary.
1. Insect collection classroom
The main objective of this program is to investigate the name of insects collected in the NIAES campus and to make a specimen of them. (In case of rain the program will be conducted inside the classroom).

2. Summer Open Day
This year's theme for the Summer Open Day is "Food and Agriculture Experience: Let's play and learn". There will be lots of tips and ideas that will help schoolchildren in preparing their homework during the summer vacation. And various activities and events designed for both parents and children to enjoy.

3. Let's look under the surface -Micro monolith-making
Observing the soil layers present in the hole dug in the ground inside the NIAES campus and prepareing micro monoliths (soil specimen).
