Deputy Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations visited NARO

On November 14, 2023, Ms. Beth Bechdol, Deputy Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) visited NARO. After welcoming remarks and an overview of the NARO were given by Vice President Dr. KATSUTA, Dr. KITTA, Deputy Director, Office of the President Director explained Research & Standardization Activities on GM Food Analytical Methods and Dr. NOGUCHI Masako, Principal Scientist, gave a presentation on A novel strategy for soil-borne disease management "HeSoDiM." Then, the delegation was led to the PR center: Tsukuba Agriculture Research Hall showcasing the latest research outcomes of NARO, where "automatically controlled field water management system'' was demonstrated.
Deputy Director-General Beth Bechdol expressed her strong interest in the technology of NARO and her expectations for the technology to be expanded to Africa and Southeast Asia.
