Feed Production Group

In the Feed Production Group, we are working on technological development to build a labor-saving and sustainable feed production base for high-quality self-sufficient feed production. We are conducting research on breeding of feed crop varieties, automation of feed crop yield prediction and weed detection, improvement of feed production history management system and high-quality compost production for integrated farming system.

Capturing aerial images of grass by drone

Development of smart breeding technology that enables labor and time saving methods in selection and the breeding of feed crops varieties

We develop the smart breeding technology that saves labor and time by using UAV aerial images coupled with deep learning of AI in selection and develop the varieties of feed crops for Hokkaido region with high nutritional feed value.

Development of smart feed production technology by the data-driven management using aerial images

We develop the yield prediction method and weed detection methods for feed crops based on the information of aerial images of pasture/crops field and machine learning.

Development of environment-friendly feed production and utilization system through the extensive use of protein-rich domestic feed and cooperation between the cultivation and the dairy sector

We will promote the integrated farming system by promoting the advanced utilization of self-sufficient feed, which is rich in protein as a substitute for imported feed, along with the construction of feed production history management system, and development of high-quality compost production technology.
