Agro-Environment and Pest Management Group

This is a group in which researchers in the fields of meteorology, soil, diseases, and insect pests collaborate to reduce the risk of field crops and develop cultivation support technology by utilizing environmental data. Our main missions are "Development of cultivation support technology utilizing soil and crop legacy data and advanced weather data", and "Development of risk aversion technology utilizing advanced mesh meteorological data and pest data".
In the "Development of cultivation support technology using soil and crop legacy data and advanced weather data", we will use the accumulated statistical data to elucidate the factors behind the increase in crop sales and low yields, improve the yield prediction of raw material field crops using AI and process models, and work on the development of cultivation support technology to improve productivity.
"Development of Risk Aversion Technology Using Advanced Mesh Meteorological Data and Pest Data" aims to clarify the cause of occurrence and infection route of potato black foot disease, potato Y virus, virus-borne aphids, etc.,which are important pests of potato as well as to refine the prediction based on mesh meteorological data., etc. We will also promote the development of pest detection technology using AI diagnostic imaging.
In addition, we will expand the application area of soil freezing depth control technology developed in Fourth term and carry out research on greenhouse gas reduction in Hokkaido.
