There is a need to shift to livestock farming based on domestically produced feed, which is less susceptible to the influence of international affairs. Our group aims to achieve high-quality, stable production, labor savings, and cost reduction of domestically produced feed through research and development of new preparation and storage methods for domestically produced feed, such as feed corn. Specifically, we will develop sensing techniques that can easily measure feed moisture content at the harvest site, which affects the quality of silage fermentation. We will also develop materials that enable stable silage fermentation even when roughage is harvested with high moisture content due to the effects of climate change, as well as work systems and schedules. Furthermore, we will promote the social implementation of our research results through outreach activities and collaborative research with industry, academia, and government, including the easy and labor-saving silage preparation method of corn kernels using the inner bag for a flexible container, and exploring and enhancing the value of new feed materials.
