

The poultry nutrition and reproduction group is engaged in developing rearing and management technologies for chickens, focusing on insights from chrononutrition. The group aims to establish precision rearing systems for broilers by optimizing lighting environments and nutritional management in accordance with their endogenous physiological rhythms. Through the determination of optimal photoperiodic regimes and related management practices throughout the fattening period, the aim is to implement methods that improve productivity and feed efficiency.
Since freezing poultry eggs is difficult, the group is developing new methods to conserve poultry genetic resources by using primordial germ cells (PGCs), which can differentiate into sperm or eggs. The research focuses on establishing reliable and efficient methodologies for the long-term preservation and reproduction of valuable chickens by developing improved techniques for the efficient isolation of PGCs, optimizing cryopreservation protocols, and advancing methods for the effective reproduction of viable cells after thawing.
