Research Center for Agricultural Robotics, NARO

Core Module Group

The Core Module Group develops common foundational technologies—including sensors and actuators—and provides them both within and outside the organization, thereby advancing the roboticization of agricultural production and food manufacturing.
In the area of sensor development, we will develop sensors specifically designed for agriculture and the food industry that have not previously existed, such as sensors for measuring soil nitrate ions to control fertilizer application, organic acids in the rumen to reduce methane emissions from cattle, and fermentation status to enable effective utilization of underutilized resources.
In the area of actuator development, we will develop robot arm optimization technologies and robot control AI, with the aim of establishing a low-cost development environment for agricultural robots.
