Agribusiness Creation Fair 2017 at Tokyo Big Sight

Date of visit: October 4th- 6th, 2017
Weather: Sunny-cloudy

Hello, everyone! This is Narorin♪
In this Narorin Report or Naroripo, I will tell you about my visit to "Agribusiness Creation Fair 2017"!

This event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) to introduce the latest research results in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and food sector in an easy-to-understand manner and to promote cooperation with research institutions and business operators.

Let's go right away to the venue!

First, I went to the "Structured Floral Arrangement" booth of NARO.
Flower arrangement is so easy! Just place the flowers and leaves on each mark pressed on a sponge......

Then, I went to the 'Compact Bunching Onion' booth.

In addition, three compact bunching onion varieties, namely, "Koiwarabe" spring variety, "Yumewarabe" autumn-winter variety, and "Fuyuwarabe" winter variety were also introduced.
These varieties are more compact than regular bunching onion, fit well in shopping bag and can be stored in the refrigerator without cutting♪

This is the potato exhibition corner.
About 80 potato varieties which is distributed throughout the country were displayed.

Next, I went to the "Short chain amylopectin" booth.

By developing rice varieties utilizing short-chain amylopectin, the rice flour-containing bread and rice cake is less likely to be hard! This research result can be very useful to both consumers and producers, and major industry stakeholders such as farmers, milling companies, food processing companies, etc.

Tasting rice cake, last one is reserved for me ♪
Soft and delicious~!

This variety under development in collaboration with Aichi prefecture can improve softness retention of rice cake, "Daihuku" cake, white rice dumpling, rice flour-containing bread without adding sugars, enzymes, etc.

Along with everyone who welcomed me!!

Then, I went to the booths featuring "Erianthus, feedstock for pellet fuel" and "Amino acid balance-improved diet for pig".

The herbaceous biomass crop 'Erianthus' can perform high yield at low cost. Some municipalities have commercialized regional self-sufficiency fuel model, by cultivating 'Erianthus', processing it into pellet fuel and utilizing the fuel in public facilities. That's great~!

This coffee was made from coffee beans roasted using 'Erianthus' pellet fuel.

This is the "Molecular model of amino acid".
Amino acid balance-improved diet for pig, it leads to less wasteful elimination from livestock production.
It reduces excess dietary protain and supplements necessary amino acids...to put it in technical terms, it is difficult~!
To say it in simpler terms, it seems to change the suitable combination of amino acids for produce.

By giving fattening pig a well balance of amino acids, it is possible to reduce nitrogen excrete in the urine without affecting productivity.
And it seems to reduce an environmental impact against waterbody of neighbors.
In addition to that, this has grat potential to reduce a greenhouse gas emission from agricultural sector. It is really environmentally friendly!

Finally, a group picture with the people who guided me and explained a lot of stuff.

Varieties and technologies developed by NARO connect various people and companies, I thought that it is very important to put exhibit at such an event in order to reach out a lot of people and disseminate many products developed by NARO.

Now I'm wondering where to go next...
