A delegation led by Dr. Daniel Gustafson, the deputy director general of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) together with Dr. Mbuli C. BOLIKO, the director of the FAO Liaison Office in Japan, made a courtesy visit to NARO Vice President Dr. MATSUDA Atsuro on January 23, 2020. They also visited the Tsukuba Agriculture Research Hall to gain an overview of NARO's R&D activities following the courtesy visit. They went on to visit the Institute for Rural Engineering, NARO, and exchanged opinions with experts there about a technical assistance initiative for disaster and water management for rural communities in Japan called "The Disaster Prevention Support System for Irrigation Ponds."
