Smart Lowland Crop Rotation Group

In order to improve the land utilization rate and productivity in the warm region lowland crop rotation system, we will promote the sophistication of paddy field rotation technology by introducing practical corn seedlings, and the development of organic matter utilization technology that avoids the decrease in sales of subsequent crops by plowing in the residue (organic matter) of practical corn seedlings. The Smart Lowland Crop Rotation Group is engaged in,

  • Development of stable production technology for grain corn intended for practical use, which can achieve a grain yield of 800 kg/10 a in a lowland crop rotation system,
  • Development of early detection technique for grain corn pests in lowland crop rotation system using high-precision drones,
  • Development of a system for evaluating the easiness of soil cultivation to evaluate the easiness of farmland cultivation in lowland crop rotation system,
  • Development of next-generation seeding technology such as disk-type up-cut rotary shallow plowing seeding and direct row sowing machines and so on

Through these technological developments, we will establish a large-scale lowland crop rotation system with the introduction of corn for grain production and contribute to the improvement of the profitability of farmers through technologies that fully utilize rice paddies.

The Smart Lowland Crop Rotation Group will develop a new crop rotation system technology by introducing grain corn to four two-year crops in northern Kyushu (rice, wheat, soybeans, and wheat). It also makes full utilization of data from smart agricultural machines, drones, and ground sensors.
