Biodiversity Indicators Group

Biodiversity Indicators Group conducts research to develop methodologies for clearly and efficiently assessing the effectiveness of biodiversity-conscious practices in agriculture. In particular, with due consideration given to the characteristics of agroecosystems, the Group is engaged in the development of a novel suite of biodiversity indicators capable of appropriately capturing the status of biodiversity and its temporal changes. These indicators will be implemented in coordination with the observation and measurement technologies that are being developed and further refined by the Monitoring Technology Group within the Biodiversity Research Domain. By advancing the development of evaluation indicators and the enhancement of monitoring technologies in tandem, the Group aims to establish biodiversity assessment methodologies that are practically applicable in agricultural settings, thereby contributing to the realization of a nature-positive agricultural system and society.
