Division of Climate Change Adaptation Research

As the impacts of climate change such as global warming on agricultural production are becoming more apparent, adaptation measures play a pivotal role in avoiding and/or mitigating the damage and exploring opportunities for agricultural production improvements.
Accurate detection of the impacts and attribution to climate change is a basis for developing present and future adaptation measures when climate change progresses. Therefore, in our division, we will assess current and future impacts of climate change using the latest climate scenarios and impact assessment methods and provide quantitative information on the efficacy of adaptation measures. We will also develop an interactive platform that will allow users to access and extract information easily and efficiently.
In order to maintain and improve productivity in a changing climate, it is helpful to utilize decision support information for cultivation management based on crop and meteorological data. In addition to these efforts, we will implement the results in society through agricultural data collaboration platforms such as WAGRI.
We aim to realize high productivity agriculture that is adaptable to climate change by integrating production environment and cultivation management information, while pursuing mitigation measures.

Strengthen both adaptation (productivity) and mitigation (zero emissions)
