Agro-Environmental Informatics Group

Since agriculture depends on natural resources, it is affected by nature and also has an impact on nature. In order to realize sustainable agriculture, it is necessary to clarify and evaluate the interaction between agriculture and the environment, and to reflect it to realize appropriate farming activities.
The research theme of the Agro-Environmental Informatics Group is to clarify and evaluate the interactions between agriculture and the environment. We are working on a variety of research topics such as the behavior of materials in a leaf, monitoring the topography and land use of fields and regions, risk assessment associated with agricultural activity and impacts of agriculture on the regional and global nitrogen cycling.
We also use a variety of methods for research, such as quantitative models, large statistical datasets, satellites and drones images monitoring. The research field includes Japan, foreign countries and polar regions. We are also working to develop methods for efficiently collecting, disseminating, and sharing information for promoting research on the agricultural environment.
