Department of Animal Disease Control and Prevention consists of three offices: Cooperation Office of Animal Health Government Affairs, Biologicals Production Office, and Diagnosis Supporting Office.
Cooperation Office of Animal Health Government Affairs is responsible for coordinating communications regarding requests for analysis and diagnostic services from external organizations, distributing biological products, and organizing training courses and workshops related to animal health.
Biologicals Production Office currently produces nine types of biological products (vaccines and diagnostic reagents) for livestock and poultry. In particular, the "Rinderpest Tissue Culture Vaccine (live seed)" has been officially authorized for production by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and WOAH (World Organisation for Animal Health) in preparation for any potential re-emergence of the disease.
Diagnosis Supporting Office provides technical support for each Research Department. Its activities include preparation and analysis of histopathological specimens, biochemical analysis of biological materials, isolation, cultivation, and genetic testing of microorganisms, and database development. In addition, the office is responsible for the collection and management of pathogens, cell lines, sera, and other biological resources. Furthermore, to ensure the reliability of diagnostic testing, the office is engaged in obtaining and maintaining accreditation under the international standard ISO/IEC 17025.
