22. Mouse-protective activity of sialic acid-specific hemagglutinin from Bordetella bronchiseptica

Japanese

In a study on a mutant of Bordetella bronchiseptica lacking sialic acid-specific hemagglutinin (SSHA), SSHA was identified as the adhesin possibly responsible for colonization of murine trachea. Following intranasal inoculation with SSHA-positive bacteria, bacterial colonization was strongly inhibited in the trachea of mice immunized with purified SSHA.
