02. Chemiluminescence activities of blood and milk in healthy and mastitis Holstein cows

Japanese

This experiment was conducted to ascertain the levels of chemiluminescence (CL) activities of blood and milk in healthy and mastitis dairy cows, and to evaluate that the CL activity of milk could be an early diagnostic indicator of mastitis. CL activity of milk was much higher in mastitis cows than in healthy ones. On the other hand, CL activity of blood was much lower in mastitis cows than in healthy ones. Level of milk CL activity was good relative to that of somatic cell count under same PL value. The result suggests that CL activity can be an early diagnostic indicator of mastitis in cows.
