Division of Animal Welfare and Wildlife Damage Management Research

With health-conscious consumer behavior and the expansion of livestock exports, livestock production has to respond to diverse market requirements, including high value-added livestock products. We are working to develop animal management technologies while considering animal welfare by evaluating methods related to animal comfort and health. We will develop a monetization model for livestock production that takes animal welfare into account. In our research on wildlife damage control, there is a need to increase the efficiency of wildlife capture and revitalize the region through animal damage control. Therefore, we are studying to provide technology for predicting wildlife damage through GIS-based monitoring, and to develop a new wildlife damage management system to prevent overharvesting of crops.
