Farmland Improvement and Management Group

In the Farmland Improvement and Management Group, we will create a sustainable agriculture that can improve food self-sufficiency even as the agricultural population decreases. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to continue to improve the infrastructure of farmland so that it can both improve productivity and harmonize with the local environment. We are starting with visualization of the current cultivation environment and are trying to create a way to pass on the history of farmland infrastructure development to the next generation by utilizing information technology. We aim to reduce the cost of agricultural land development by developing agricultural land management technology that enables the integrated management and operation of agricultural land information using a digital platform, from farmland development to farming. We will also accelerate the spread of ICT-based water management. In addition, we will develop technologies for using local resources on farmland to achieve carbon neutrality. Based on these elemental technologies, we will develop data-linked farmland management technologies.
The main research topics are as follows.

  • Development of a digital platform for farmland infrastructure data & Development of farmland management technology through collaborative use of agricultural infrastructure data.
  • Expanding the application of ICT water management technology to open channel and the exercise of public utility functions.
  • Development of materials and farmland management technology to promote carbon storage and circulation in farmland soil.
