The Soil Mechanics and Structural Engineering Group conduct researches on the safety and conservation management of core irrigation facilities (dams, irrigation ponds, etc.). In order to prevent these facilities from being damaged by earthquakes and heavy rains, we develop safety evaluation methods and reinforcement measures, conducting physical experiments and numerical analysis. We are also working on the development and sophistication of rational and low-cost facility monitoring methods. In recent years, we have been developing an information platform "Digital Platform for Irrigation Ponds" for sharing disaster prevention information of irrigation ponds and for performing data-driven facility diagnosis and verification.
