Division of Field Cropping and Horticulture Research

In the division of field cropping and horticulture research, our main targets are wheat and vegetables for processing use in cold regions including the Tohoku region. Through leading research and development, the research aims to contribute to the future of a healthy and rich diet for the people through production technology and cultivating varieties. For this purpose, we will build an onion production system that enables continuous shipment, develop a data-driven production management system based on growth and yield prediction by utilizing ICT. We will also work towards the control of pests and diseases to support the cultivation of production areas, develop work and fertility management technologies, and develop varieties of wheat with high quality for adoptable in vastarea and vegetables for processing and actual demand by utilizing smart breeding technologies.
