Local Agribusiness Group

In our group, we build a new business model aiming to the increase the consumption of local resource. By means of this model, we promote the employment opportunities and income growth of farmers in the hilly and semi-mountainous areas. We support the development of agricultural and livestock products, processed products, and consumption services that utilize the resources and strengths of hilly and semi-mountainous areas.
Wheat, soybeans, organic farm products, and Japanese beef, are the major products in the region. We work towards grasping the needs of consumers of these products both within and outside the region, needs of actual users such as local processors. We also try to understand the strengths and issues in the production, processing and distribution in the production areas, challenges in product development and regional business development. Furthermore, we work towards the development of yield improvement and quality stabilization technologies utilizing new varieties, ICT, such agricultural work support systems, sensing technologies etc., We are also engaged in the development of sales promotion measures and the enhancement of regional brand power utilizing new distribution systems and bio resource evaluation technologies. In addition, we promote cooperation between small production areas and business models to build a multi-purpose regional business model for local production that supports consumption of local resources.
