Fukuyama City is a core city and central of Bingo Metropolitan area that extends from the east of Hiroshima Prefecture to the Ikasa District of Okayama Prefecture. This is an industrial city in which heavy industries are flourishing, with the production volume of crude steel being the largest in Japan. Since it is on the Seto Inland Sea, the temperature exceeds 35 degrees centigrade in the summer and it may become extremely hot, while the snowfall is rare and little in the winter. It is said that there were few earthquakes, and there are no records of major damage caused by earthquakes in the past.
