Kurume City is located in the southwest of Fukuoka Prefecture in Kyushu. It is approximately 40 kilometers away from Fukuoka City. The land is slowly inclined from the foothills and hills of the southeast to the west and followed by a large alluvial plain formed by the Chikugo River, the largest river in Kyushu. Although the annual variation in the temperature and in the amount of precipitation are larger, the amount of snowfall is small, with the weather being warm and diverse in the four seasons.
