Morioka City is located in the interior of Iwate Prefecture, which is located in Tohoku region. Viewed from the central urban area, Mt. Iwate, Mt. Komagatake, Mt. Hayaikeme are the landmark of the city. Due to the inland climate, the difference in temperature is large between summer and winter, day and night. In summer, there are some mild summer days, but rarely tropical nights. On the other hand, the winter season is said to be the coldest among Honshu's prefectural capitals.
