Department of Mechanization Research Collaboration

The Department of Mechanization Research Collaboration organizes "Technological Cluster for Agricultural Machinery" as a platform for wide-ranging industry-academia-government collaboration to promote new agricultural mechanization.

The Technological Cluster for Agricultural Machinery is a collective of diverse individuals and groups involved in technologies for agricultural machinery, including private companies, agricultural organizations, research organizations, universities, administrations, and producers, with the aim of solving various problems at agricultural production sites. We will collect requests from production sites for the development of agricultural machinery and work safety, and address to realize the requests through R & D of agricultural machinery or other methods by the cluster members. These efforts are reported to a third-party organization, "Assessment Committee for Agricultural Machinery Technologies", and we will receive advice or appraisals for proper operation. Furthermore, we are also working on dissemination of agricultural work safety information to farming sites, and examination of the standardization of specifications for agricultural machinery.

From the fiscal year 2021, the Department of Mechanization Research Collaboration established an API Standardization Consortium for Agricultural Machinery, which consists of farm equipment manufacturers and ICT vendors and others, to promote the development of open APIs that link the data obtained from agricultural machinery across the boundaries of manufacturers and systems. We attend to administrative affairs for the Consortium.
