Within the Safety Inspection program administered by the Department of Safety Inspection, the Safety Equipment Inspection covers agricultural tractors (ride-on type), agricultural tractors (walk-behind type) [excluding axle-mounted rotary tillers], rice transplanters (ride-on type), combine harvesters (head-feeding type), and grain dryers (circulating type) [excluding drying facilities that require a chief operator]. Based on the Safety Equipment Inspection Standards and Commentary (2025) or the Safety Equipment Inspection Standards and Commentary (2027) established for each machine category, we inspect safety equipment (protection from hazards, safety devices, braking systems, operator's seat and work areas, driving/operating controls, etc.). Under the Safety Inspection program, applying for and undergoing the Safety Equipment Inspection is mandatory.
The Safety Equipment Evaluation Group conducts inspection services such as Safety Equipment Inspection for agricultural tractors (walk-behind type) and rice transplanters (ride-on type), and the Functional Confirmation for Agricultural Work Vehicles (etc.) for agricultural chemical sprayers.
In addition, to expand the range of machine types covered by the Safety Inspection program, we are conducting research aimed at establishing Safety Equipment Inspection standards for agricultural machinery with a high risk of serious accidents, specifically speed sprayers, agricultural carriers, and agricultural elevated work platforms.
