Pathology Group investigates diseases of livestock and poultry using anatomical and histopathological analyses to clarify disease mechanisms and improve diagnostic techniques. We digitize histopathological slides from various cases to build a comprehensive database and, in collaboration with the Research Center for Agricultural Information Technology of NARO, operate a nationwide digital pathology network. This system enables remote viewing and supports online consultations and conferences, helping enhance diagnostic efficiency and accuracy. We are also developing diagnostic support tools that combine digital imaging with machine learning.
In addition, we study the pathogenesis of diseases such as chicken anemia virus infection and avian lymphomas using field and experimental cases. Based on these findings, we work to advance and streamline diagnostic methods and promote their adoption in the field.
