An international symposium will be held on Friday, November 5 to commemorate the 100th year anniversary of the establishment of the National Institute of Animal Health (NIAH), NARO. The theme of this symposium is "The outbreak situation of the animal infectious diseases and zoonotic diseases in the Asian region and control strategy". Overview

The National Institute of Animal Health (NIAH), NARO was established in 1921 (Taisho 10) as the Institute for Infectious of Animals under the Agricultural Experiment Station of the then Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce. This year marks 100 years since its establishment. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the institute, we will hold an international symposium. This symposium will serve as an opportunity to disseminate the achievements of NIAH and its future role to a wide range of stakeholders in Japan and overseas. The discussion will focus on the incidence of and measures against internationally important animal and zoonotic diseases in Asia. The symposium also aims to build framework for international cooperation in epidemic prevention system of animal health in Asia region.
