22. A simple identification method of Salmonella Typhimurium phage type DT104 using florfenicol resistance

Japanese

The multidrug-resistant Salmonella Typhimurium definitive phage type 104 (DT104) has been an important zoonotic pathogen in Europe, North America and also in Japan since 1990. However identification of DT104 by phage typing is complicated. So we developed a simple identification method for DT104 using florfenicol resistance. The results of this method were highly correlated with that of phage typing. Thus this method should be a useful tool for the identification of DT104.
