12. Genetic diversity of srtA genes among Streptococcus suis strains

Japanese

Streptococcus suis causes a wide range of clinical diseases in pigs. An srtA gene in the type strain of S. suis encodes sortase, which is resposible for displaying many proteins on the bacterial surface. In this study, the genetic diversity and the functional conservation of srtA among S. suis strains were demonstrated. These results indicate the biological importance of srtA in this species.
