04. An effective method for inoculation promotion of bovine abnormal birth with the 3-way inactivated vaccine (Akabanevirus, Ainovirus and Chuzanvirus)

As a defense method for the Akabane, Aino and Chuzan Virus infectious diseases, we examined an effective inoculation method for the bovine abnormal birth with the 3-way inactivated vaccine (3-way IAV). It became clear that many cows inoculated with the 3-way IAV annually for two years continued holding a vaccine antibody for more than one year. Similarly, it became clear that heifers inoculated with the 3-way IAV when 6, 7 and 13 months old continued holding a vaccine antibody for more than one year.
Therefore, instead of the conventional program in which cows are inoculated with the 3-way IAV every spring prior to the outbreak of an arthropod vector such as culicoides, a program to inoculate with the 3-way IAV once a year is effective for cows inoculated with the 3-way IAV annually for two years in the spring and heifers inoculated with the 3-way IAV three times a year for defence against the Akabane, Aino and Chuzan Virus infectious diseases.
