09. Development of a portable electrodiagnostic system for measuring brainstem auditory evoked potentials in cattle

Japanese

We developed a portable electrodiagnostic system for measuring brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEP) in cattle, and assessed the performance of this equipment. A portable electrodiagnostic system could be continuously used with a built-in battery for 6 hours, with little contamination due to noise. Measurement of BAEP using a portable electrodiagnostic system could be carried out safely in the standing position. In cattle, vertex-positive peaks were identified as major waves I, II, III, and V in all recordings of portable and non-portable (commercial) electrodiagnostic systems. Wave IV was absent in all recordings. No significant differences were found in the peak latencies of any component (wave I-V) between the portable and non-portable electrodiagnostic systems at any stimulus.
