Recent extreme weather has reduced yields of open-field vegetables and floricultures, driving up prices and causing shortages that can trigger emergency imports. To strengthen open-field production, we will develop cultivation methods that combine growth and flowering predictions with adaptation technologies for adverse environmental conditions such as high temperatures and droughts. We will also address agricultural labor shortages by developing production systems centered on cultivars and planting methods suited to smart farming machinery. Through these efforts, we aim to ensure a stable supply of open-field vegetables and floricultures, adjust demand, and streamline harvesting and processing.
