Facilities Maintenance and Management Group

Facilities Maintenance and Management Group researches and develops the functional diagnosis and repair/reinforcement technologies for aging agricultural water supply facilities such as headworks, open channels, pipelines, and pump facilities that supply irrigation water for agricultural production. Additionally, our group targets the technologies that contribute to maintaining biological habitat, and technologies for evaluating/mitigating the impact of altered environment on water management.
So far, we have developed the deterioration diagnosis and failure prediction technology for irrigation pumps analyzing leakage of lubricating oils, the capsule-type robot that could detect irrigation water leakage in pipelines, fish habitat survey/evaluation manuals, and calculation programs for fish habitat evaluation in agricultural waterways.
The research theme of the 5th term plan, which started in 2021, is "digitization of agricultural infrastructure and upgrade of stock management technology based on regional and ecological analysis."

We will start new researches, such as:
  • Digitalization of various information at each stage: diagnosis, repair planning, repair work, and maintenance of agricultural water supply facilities
  • Technological development to improve the efficiency of infrastructure management by digital transformation
  • Facility maintenance technology with environmental consideration
