Research Center for Agricultural Information Technology, NARO

Probabilistic Modeling Unit

In Probabilistic Modeling Unit, currently we are tackling the following projects: the pest image diagnosis by artificial intelligence, the pest prevalence prediction using historical survey records, the application for pest monitoring, the bacterial and virus diagnosis based on genetic information, the fragrance sensor that evaluates food and agricultural products, the nutrient controlling system for tomato cultivation and so on. Our aim is to deliver the results of these projects to the public via WAGRI (Agricultural Data Collaboration Platform: https://wagri.net/ja-jp/), which is a data-sharing platform for official, educational, and commercial purpose.
In addition, in collaboration with other departments of NARO, we are also engaged in research for establishing the prediction tool of SpCas9 activity at independent target locus in plant genome editing, the gene identification of useful substances by constructing silk moth gene network, the freshness evaluation systems for fruits and vegetables, and the enhancement for animal welfare using AI.
