Research Center for Agricultural Information Technology, NARO

The Data Research Promotion Office is responsible for formulating data strategies for NARO. We have launched and operating the AI supercomputer "Shiho" that supports data-driven agriculture and the NARO Linked DB. We also provide support for the data analysis of agricultural big data and AI calculations in conjunction with NARO Linked DB and Shiho.
NARO Linked DB, which integrates all the NARO research data by adding metadata, is the only agricultural research data repository in Japan, and will also be linked together with data repositories in other fields such as bioscience. It also cooperates with WAGRI, the agricultural data distribution platform for business, and provides useful research data of NARO and data from related ministries and agencies to private companies to contribute to the agriculture and food industries.
In addition, in this Corona era, we will provide a system to private companies that can remotely and safely analyze research data by means of linking an AI supercomputer "Shiho" with advanced analysis equipment, such as the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR).
