Accurate estimation of daily minimum temperature in complex topography

In complex terrains such as hilly mountainous areas and slopes, the daily minimum temperature would be significantly different from that measured at neighborhood weather stations. We developed a method that can estimate the daily minimum temperature at a very fine scale of 5m using digital elevation model and temperature measurements at representative points. This method enables farmers to get detailed data on the daily minimum temperature in their own fields. In the future, this method is planned to be incorporated into the Meteorological Grid Square Data provided by NARO.
