Division of Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Research

With the rapid accumulation of agricultural land on large-scale management bodies, dramatic labor-saving and productivity improvements at agricultural sites are urgently needed. On the other hand, personnel expenses account for about 30% of production costs for protected horticulture that are growing more than one hectare in size, and management improvement is required by improving work efficiency.
The Division of Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Research is working on the following technological developments as tools for solving various issues of Japanese agriculture

  • Establishment of specifications for exchange of agricultural data with a view to international standardization and operation of intelligent agricultural machinery
  • Building Intelligent Modeling for Arable farming
  • Optimization of labor management in cultivation for protected horticulture
  • Development of work management robot system for fruits and vegetables

In order to realize these social implementations, the Division of Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Research is aiming at an early realization of "Society 5.0" in the agricultural and food fields through collaboration and cooperation with relevant administrative bureaus, organizations, private enterprises, producers and others.
