Institute of Agricultural Machinery, NARO (IAM/NARO) collaborated with the above listed public and private enterprises and developed a robot for cleaning swine buildings. The target is for pig farms with 200 mother pigs, which cover majority of the Japanese pig farms. This robot can replace farmers in carrying out the cleaning work in swine buildings under severe environments. By the thorough cleaning and disinfection, the risk of the diseases will be reduced ensuring the safety and reliability to the consumers.

Overview

Fattening swine building cleaning robot
(high level functionality type)

This research collaboration led by the Institute of Agricultural Machinery, NARO (IAM/NARO) completed the development of a swine building cleaning robot with easy handling and high operability. This robot is compact compared to the similar robots made overseas. This robot is suitable for pig farms with 200 mother pigs, which cover majority of the Japanese pig farmers.

Three types of robots have been developed, high level function type and low-cost type for fattening swine building, and a type for pig-delivering chamber. Field tests using these robots showed the possibility to reduce work time by 66 to 68% compared with manual work.

We are aiming for commercialization after FY 2020 promoting the improvement of durability and environmental tolerance while prioritizing the commercialization of low-cost type or fattening swine building.
